Roblox has been banned in Türkiye

Games platform Roblox has been banned in Türkiye.

The news was announced on Twitter by the country's  Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç, who did not give a specific reason for blocking access to the popular service.

Local publication Türkiye Today, however, reports that the ban is primarily the result of inappropriate material on the platform.

This follows a report from Bloomberg saying that Roblox had reported in excess of 13k instances of child exploitation to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in 2023 alone.

"We've spent almost 20 years making Roblox one of the safest online platforms for our users, particularly the youngest, and ensuring the safety of our users is at the core of everything we do," a Roblox rep told Eurogamer

"We respect the laws and regulations in countries where we operate and share local lawmakers' commitment to children. We look forward to working together to ensure Roblox is back online in Türkiye as soon as possible."
