Last chapter of Kentucky Route Zero confirmed for 2018 release

The fifth and final part of episodic release Kentucky Route Zero has been pencilled in for launch early next year.

The news broke as part of a Nintendo Switch livestream event for indie projects, where a ‘TV Edition’ of the cult game was shown (trailer below).

The project began life in 2013 when the first two episodes launched; the third part followed the next year, with act four releasing in 2016.

The title was Kickstarted, raising $8,583 in funding.

"Kentucky Route Zero is a magical realist adventure game about a secret highway in the caves beneath
Kentucky," the title's official blurb reads.

"An antique furniture delivery man trying to make his small shop's last delivery gets lost along the way and meets a haunted TV repairwoman, a young boy and his giant eagle brother, a pair of robot musicians, and dozens of other characters. Together, they explore the nocturnal highways and country roads of Kentucky, the storied Echo River by ferry, and the mysterious Route Zero, the secret highway that runs through Mammoth Cave."

Kentucky Route Zero Act V wasn't the only PC-related project to be announced during Nintendo's Switch livestream. A follow-up to Super Meat Boy made its debut, while Yacht Club Games revealed more information about the upcoming Shovel Knight: King of Cards expansion
