CIA files out Osama Bin Laden as a fan of video games and anime

In what might be the strangest story PCGamesInsider will cover all year, it seems that al-Qa‘ida chief and scourge of the Western world Osama Bin Laden might have been a massive gamer.

That’s going on a recent release of documents from the CIA which include records of items found at the Pakistan compound where Bin Laden was killed in May 2011.

It turns out that the terror mastermind behind 9/11 was a massive gamer, with emulated files for DS games such as New Super Mario Bros and Animal Crossing games making an appearance on his hard drive, as well as anime games based on Naruto, Bleach and Dragon Ball also showing up.

It is possible that these files were not Bin Laden's himself, but regardless this is a story we can file under ‘too weird to not cover’.

"Today’s release of recovered al-Qa‘ida letters, videos, audio files and other materials provides the opportunity for the American people to gain further insights into the plans and workings of this terrorist organization," said CIA Director Pompeo.

"CIA will continue to seek opportunities to share information with the American people consistent with our obligation to protect national security."
