Microsoft Flight Simulator flies past 15m players

The latest entry in the Microsoft Flight Simulator franchise has attracted over 15 million players since its 2020 release.

That's according to the game's official Twitter account, which revealed the milestone and thanked the title's growing playerbase.

Microsoft Flight Simulator was released in August 2020; four months after release, the title has attracted two million players.

"We're thrilled to celebrate 15 million pilots who have taken flight with us in Microsoft Flight Simulator," the game's developers wrote.

"Thanks to each and every one of you for filling the skies with your adventures! Blue skies and tailwinds."

It's worth noting that this 15 million figure doesn't translate to 15 million sales. Microsoft Flight Simulator has been a part of the Xbox Game Pass subscription service since release on PC and since July 2021 on Xbox consoles.

A sequel, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, is set to launch in November of this year.
