God of War Amazon TV show reportedly goes back to the drawing board

Amazon's God of War television series is seemingly starting from scratch.

Deadline reports that a number of top names have departed the project, including showrunner and executive producer Rafe Judkins, as well as fellow exec producers Hawk Ostby and Mark Fergus.

This is apparently due to Sony and Amazon wanting to head in a different direction with the series, despite reportedly having given praise to the scripts that had been produced for the show.

The plan now is for Amazon and Sony to bring in an entirely new writers room.

Amazon gave the green light to a God of War TV show back in December 2022

“We are so proud and excited to be working with our friends at Amazon Studios and our partners at PlayStation Productions to adapt this beautiful and heartbreaking game into a premium live-action series," Sony Pictures TV president Katherine Pope said at the time.

"Rafe, Mark and Hawk are crafting a transportive series that charts a path through the ancient mythological journey of Kratos.”
