Square Enix is moving away from platform exclusivity

Japanese games firm Square Enix has said that it is moving away from any platform exclusivity strategy.

That's according to Final Fantasy 14 producer Naoki Yoshida, who told 4Gamertranslated by Eurogamer – that the company was planning to release titles over more platforms more regularly.

The industry vet said that the company wants people "to play it a lot on other platforms as well," discussing the release of Fantasian Neo Dimension, a title that is coming to not just Steam but also PlayStation and Xbox platforms, as well as Nintendo Switch.

"In the future, Square Enix titles will be released simultaneously on each platform more and more, but since this is close to the first release, we would like Xbox users to play it as well," Yoshida continued.
