NetEase vet Ozawa founds Studio Sasanqua

Kenji Ozawa, formerly of NetEase Games' Ouka Studio, has set up a brand new developer called Studio Sasanqua.

Speaking to Automaton, the industry vet – who the company's chief executive officer – said that he set up this new venture due to being disillusioned with the state of the games market at the moment. Ozawa went on to say that Studio Sasanqua's “management needs to protect creators." That includes providing a sense of security to staff and giving developers motivation.

Furthermore, the CEO said that the studio is set up so that creative and management are unified. Ozawa also appears to be funding Sasanqua himself and says that he is 'fully prepared' to take responsibility if the developer fails due to 'poor management choices'.

Ozawa previously worked at NetEase Games' Ouka Studio between December 2019 and 2024, when the developer was shut down by the Chinese giant. The studio did release Visions of Mana, which was published by Square Enix.
