Reignbreaker maker Studio Fizbin is closing down

The developer of Reignbreaker, Studio Fizbin, is closing down later this month.

The company announced the news via a statement on its website – as spotted by Game Developer – saying that it would be shutting down after Reignbreaker comes out on March 18th. Founder and CEO Alexander Pieper (pictured) said that the decision was largely related to Thunderful's decision to "drastically reduce internal development".

"The games industry is in a tough situation right now, and we've been affected like countless other incredible studios in recent months," Pieper wrote.

"Our parent company Thunderful made the decision to drastically reduce internal development in November 2024, which, as Thunderful's CEO Martin communicated in the latest quarterly report, also affected Studio Fizbin. Since then, we've been exploring various opportunities to work on after finishing Reignbreaker. Unfortunately, none of these projects will move forward, leading us to make this difficult decision."

He continued: "We want to thank every single one of our fans for your purchases, your fan art, your comments, your reviews, your passion, and your seemingly endless support.

"We also would like to thank all our business partners, Medienboard, the MfG, Creative Europe, and the federal funding partners for all their support.

"And finally, we'd like to give the biggest thanks to our team – those who are here until the end, and the many others who have found a different path on the way. Fizbin and its games are defined by its team members, and you all made this the most inspiring place to perform the world's most difficult magic trick: making games."
