Over one million people have already played the newly-released Assassin's Creed Shadows.
That's according to publisher Ubisoft, which took to Twitter to announce the milestone, which the game surpassed by 16:00 Montreal time. Assassin's Creed Shadows has hit a peak of 46,813 concurrent players on Steam, per SteamDB data, too.
To be clear, however, this doesn't mean one million sales; the game can be played via the Ubisoft+ subscription service, though it's unclear how popular that is.
"Thank YOU from the bottom of our hearts for joining this adventure in Feudal Japan," Ubisoft said on Twitter.
"We are beyond excited to start this journey with you!"
It's unclear how well Shadows has performed in real terms, i.e. what Ubisoft's goals for the title were. It is worth noting that the last time an Assassin's Creed game was released – Valhalla back in 2020 – the French publishing giant only said that the title had reached double the players of its predecessor, Odyssey, without naming any specific figure.
