PC games drove $41.6 billion in revenue for 2024.
That's according to new data from Midia Research, which forecasts that this sector will go on to make $44.5 billion during 2025, rising up to $55.8 billion by 2031. PC represented 21 per cent of games revenue for 2024, coming in behind console – at $41.5 billion – and mobile at a massive $108.1 billion.
PC titles made up 38 per cent of premium revenue for the year – including DLC – for 2024, too.
Looking at the market as a whole, analyst Rhys Elliott said that double-digit growth is now a "fantasy" thanks to the sector's maturity.
Midia Research’s Global Games Forecasts 2025–2031, and its accompanying dataset, is our flagship games report," he wrote.
"The key takeaway: the games market is mature, and double-digit growth is a fantasy. It’s not ‘’survive till ’25’’ anymore – it’s stick till ’26 with tempered expectations. As we dive into the dynamics shaping the global games market, it’s clear that the industry is navigating a transformative – and let’s be honest – scary era."
