Velev dev pulls game from Steam days after launch

The studio behind MOBA battle royale title, Velev, has removed the game from Steam just days after its release.

In a post on its store page, developer Chaf wrote that it had launched the project into Early Access in the hopes of supporting the game in the long-term. This followed the developer being unable to secure any funding or investment.

Chaf's initial post said that it was moving from being premium to free-to-play but in a subsequent blog post, the studio wrote that this was not possible. Regardless, all purchases have been refunded.

"As some of you may have already noticed, we weren’t able to reach the point we needed to continue supporting and servicing Velev," Chaf wrote.

"Despite our best efforts, we couldn’t secure the investment we needed from VCs or larger partners. With limited options, we made the decision to launch in Early Access, hoping for the best.

"We understand that Velev was still in a premature state when it launched as a paid title on Steam. It wasn’t an ideal situation, but it was the only path we had at the time.

"With that said, we are preparing to step away from development and bring this chapter to a close.

"It is heartbreaking. Our team poured so much passion and energy into this project, but we couldn’t quite reach the goals we had set. Still, hearing your feedback, encouragement, and kind words along the way meant the world to us."
