IO and Square Enix vet Flösser unveils new studio Wombo Games

The former managing director of Hitman maker IO Interactive, Janos Flösser, has revealed his new studio Wombo Games.

The venture is working on a new strategy roguelike title called Raiders of Blackveil, which is set to launch into Early Access during this summer.

Wombo was founded back in 2023; Flösser worked at IO Interactive for almost ten years between 1998 and 2008 before moving to Square Enix in the role of chief creative officer. He worked at the publisher until 2016 before moving to Crey Games as its CEO.

In addition to the above, he has been a partner – then a senior partner – at Promentum Capital.

“We wanted to keep [the studio] small and nimble and see how far we could push it," Flösser told GamesBeat.

"We managed to get funding and started in July 2023, so we’re almost two years-old… Very early on, we had a playable version, almost within the first month-and-a-half, and [investors] started to play it. They fell in love with the concept, and they’ve been playing it ever since. And I think this is first time I have this experience that investors go crazy with the team and crazy with the concept. So we managed to raise funds three times during the last two years… For now, it’s pretty much focused on doing the right game for the right audience.”
