Logitech G reveals gaming couples enjoy higher relationship satisfaction

A recent survey by Logitech G has revealed that couples who play video games together at least once a week experience double the net relationship satisfaction (+47.3) compared to those who seldom or never play together (+24.0).

Conducted in partnership with the independent research firm Antenna Insights, Logitech G’s findings indicate that participating in video games as a couple is an effective method to enhance romantic relationships this Valentine’s Day.

Among 1,500 participants aged 18-45, Logitech G discovered that nearly half (44%) engage in video gaming with their partner either occasionally or regularly, while 22% play infrequently and 34% do not play at all. Couples who game together on a regular basis (at least once a week) enjoy nearly 17 hours of quality time together each week — approximately 3.8 hours more than those who only play occasionally.

Play together, stay together

The primary reasons couples appreciate gaming together include the opportunity to do something fun as a team (52% of respondents), the ability to unwind and relieve stress (47%), and that it brings them closer together (46%). Additionally, 39% of those surveyed indicated that it is an excellent way to spend quality time together at home, while 36% noted that it adds a playful element to their relationship.

“Logitech G’s latest research shows that for many couples, the secret to a stronger connection this Valentine’s Day is actually found at the console. We’re finding that gaming isn’t just a solo hobby; it’s a powerful tool for quality time, communication, and teamwork in romantic relationships,” remarked Daniel Hall, Senior Category Manager at Logitech G ANZ.

Teamwork and communication

Logitech G also engaged with gaming duo Elmza and Jags (Emma Corrigan and Jaeger Jags Vallejera), who regularly play cooperative games together, such as Overcooked, Mario Party, and Animal Crossing. “Our teamwork and communication have definitely improved massively through playing games together,” Elmza described. “The quality time together is another big one, so being able to just hang out together and also decompress and relax.”

Elmza remarked that sharing a common hobby they are both enthusiastic about has strengthened their bond. "The games that we love playing reflect what we love about each other and the relationship as well. It really reminds us how important playfulness, fun, and adventure are as part of our relationship."

By replacing mundane conversations with engaging competition or collaboration this Valentine’s Day, Logitech G's findings underscore gaming as a beneficial instrument for fostering improved communication, teamwork, and playfulness in relationships.

This study aligns with the recent introduction of Logitech G's Astro A20 X Gaming Headset, which features PLAYSYNC technology, allowing players to effortlessly switch between consoles with a single button press.
