Chinese games firm NetEase has pulled out of yet another foreign game studio, this time Fantastic Pixel.
That's according to the developer's boss, Greg Street, who posted on LinkedIn saying that the company could be shutting down at some point in the near future if it is unable to find another backer. The studio head added that NetEase had been trying to help Fantastic Pixel Castle find another publisher for its in-development game.
"We’re doing everything we can to find a publisher or investor. At the same time, we’re encouraging our team members to explore future opportunities and supporting them through the uncertainty," he wrote.
"If we're unable to find a publisher soon, the reality is that the studio would likely close, and the entire team, leadership included, would be affected.
"We want to thank the Ghost community, our playtesters, and the literally hundreds of people who have given us advice on how to find funding in this absurdly challenging time for our industry. I hope you all will have a chance to play Ghost."
Fantastic Pixel Castle was announced in November 2023. It is the latest NetEase studio that has been closed.
